Personally, my purpose is that I aspire to be the role model of a great man to my daughters, Kamilah & Kahli, and of a great husband to my incredible wife, Andrea. Professionally, my purpose is to be an Expert Consultant, a Master at the art of negotiation with a “finger tip feel” for the deal, and oversee as I orchestrate all of the transactional details for people on the move. I’m a 23 year resident of San Diego and have helped hundred of families get into and out of homes in almost every nook and cranny of this beautiful county we call San Diego, and “home.”
Professionally, I believe there is a reason why we bump into the people we do in this life. I don’t take those intersections to folks lightly. My purpose is that when I am lucky enough to bump into you, that when our time together is complete, I will have done my part in “leaving each other better than how we found each other.” My gift is in my passion to learn, my willingness to fully integrate that learning, then combine it with my ability to lead with a servant’s heart to help you get from where you are to where you want to be…meaningfully. Now you, like me, hear some people say answer that, “they’re in Real Estate” when asked what they do. Like, its something they happened upon while they were in between things -or- trying to make a quick buck. I’m not sure that applies to me. Because, I don’t think there was ever a chance I’d end up doing anything else. Why? I love helping people. That is where my creative spirit energy comes from and thrives. And … you might say that, building houses and creating homes have always been in my blood!
I grew up building houses since I was old enough to swing a hammer…[expand title=”CLICK HERE to read on…” swaptitle=”…here’s the rest of the story:”] (well, if you call “laborer who did all the jobs that my dad and older brother didn’t want to do and was never allowed to do the fun stuff till I got older” building houses, then I suppose I can, too 😀 ). The truth is that building homes from scratch was my father’s trade. And he was great at it. My dad was the best around town for his word-of-mouth niche of: being able to build the things and take on the projects that nobody else could do. I suppose he loved a good challenge.
And I suppose some of that rubbed off on me. This, because our niche has always been First-Time Home Buyers, First-Time Sellers, and Short Sales – which have always been some of the most difficult transactions in our business.
I’ve heard my clients say, surprised, that one of their favorite things about me was my strangely deep knowledge & awareness of building science and familiarity with things that fell well outside of the scope of a typical Real Estate Agent.
I treasure those comments.
They remind me of my dad, my brother, and all those hot-hot summer days that the three of us labored for what seemed to be 16 hours on end, building homes from scratch right out of the earth for those very excited families we helped. You might say I’ve been in that vision & actualization business from before I was able to even understand what the heck that meant.
There is something so romantic about driving up to a job site before the sun has even rose, hands still tired and blisters open from the wares of the day before, only to leave the site that day better than how you found it. That feeling of satisfaction I got while driving off, knowing that the day wasn’t done until every drop of sweat within me had been spent. The lessons learned from working with my hands, the reward of a hard earned wage, the ol’ fashioned blue collar way, with family, custom building something important that truly matters to someone, knowing that with every stroke of my brush & focused intention, I am doing my part in leaving a legacy for them and for me.
These lessons learned are the head cornerstones of what we eventually built here with The GreenHouse Group.
So, I suppose when I hear most people answer that, “they’re in Real Estate”, that’s because it’s a job that they may have just picked up along the way in the pursuit of money. If so, then I suppose it’s more appropriate to answer when people ask what I do is to say, “Real Estate has just always been in me.”
